Dr. John Geissman giving us a run-down on the first study area. This turned out to be a really amazing location, lots of stuff happening in a fairly small area. I don’t want to give too much away here since this location will also be part of Field Camp I in the summer.

One year ago today: SF Road Trip Day 3

Day 3: More driving… Flagstaff, AZ to San Francisco, CA. As you might have noticed on our back window road trip check list we had planned to pass through LA, but we soon realized that would take way too long.

Photo of the day? Breakfast again at MartAnne’s. Totally worth staying late for.

One year ago today: SF Road Trip Day 2

Day 2 of our spring break journey. After an amazing breakfast at MartAnne’s Cafe we set out for the Grand Canyon and a little geocaching.

We had planned to camp here for the night, but to be honest it was damn cold so we went back to Flagstaff and got another night in our hotel room.

Check out Luke’s pictures of the trip here, or go here for the rest of my set.

One year ago today…

Springtown, TX to Flagstaff, AZ non-stop(ish)! Breaking in Luke’s new car the right way, we decided to head for San Francisco by way of the Grand Canyon. Day 1 photos were sparse and mostly uninteresting. The real fun begins (began?)"tomorrow."

Day 1 Start: Just west of Springtown on Jacksboro Highway (HWY 199) we stopped to celebrate the Jetta’s first 1000 miles of life.

Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks

Going to the party
Sippin' on Bacardi
Wanna meet a hottie
But there's Adam, Steve and Marty
There's Billy, Todd and Tommy
They're on leave from the army
The only boobs I'll see tonight will be made of origami

Tell the fellas, make it understood
It ain't no good if there's too much wood
Make sure you know before you go
The dance floor bro-hoe ratio
Five to one, it's a brodeo
Tell Steve and Mike it's time to go
Wait outside all night to find
Twenty dudes in a conga line

Too many dicks on the dance floor
Easy to fix
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Spread out the dicks

Too many dudes
With too many dicks
Too close to my shit
Too hard to meet chicks
I need better odds
More broads, less rods
I came to do battle
Skedaddle with the cattle prods

Too many men
Too many boys
Too many misters
Not enough sisters
Too much time on too many hands
Not enough ladies, too many mans

Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor

Too many dicks
Too many dongs
Too many schlongs
Now sing this song

Too many dicks on the-
Too many dicks on the-
Dicks on the-
Dicks on the-
Dicks-Dicks-Dance-Dicks-
Di-di-di-di-dicks on the dance floor

Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor
Too many dicks
Too many dicks on the dance floor

Kindle DX, a welcome addiction.

Three novels (plus a few research papers) in two weeks. I’m addicted to reading again and that’s fine by me.

So far I’ve read American Gods by Neil Gaiman, The Dead Zone by Stephen King and I’m finishing up I Am Legend by Richard Matheson.

I haven’t read this much since grade school. This fantastic device just makes it so effortless. Please send suggestions for what I should put on my list!

A friend of Luke’s stopped by yesterday and decided to go nuts taking pictures of my fish (and crabs, and snail). Some of them turned out really great. Click through for the full set.
This is a new 18 gallon setup (thanks Cale!) with driftwood, so the water is a little tea-colored from the tannin leaching out. This will hopefully clear up soon. Once it does I’ll put up some full tank shots. In the meantime, here’s a quick one from my phone.

I finally straightened out all of the photos from our weekend trip to the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge last November. Jenn was the only one of us who remembered to charge her camera, so these are all thanks to her.
